Being a family of four and having only one bathroom was not practical for our growing Newman project family. Queues for the bathroom in the morning were driving them crazy. A four-bedroom home with only one bathroom was just not viable anymore. Over time, a previous owner had closed in the doorway between the lounge (now the master bedroom) and the dining room. To create a master retreat for the parents, we reopened the previously blocked-up doorway and turned bedroom number four into a walk-in robe & en-suite. By dividing the room in half, we were able to give each space an equal share and in turn, creating two very functional spaces.

Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in the WIR meant the parents had ample storage for all their belongings. Walking through the WIR you now enter the generous en-suite with a double vanity to one side and a generous walk-in shower and toilet to the other. Function, layout and style have now created a usable space out of an unused room.


To finish the renovation, we completely demolished the main bathroom, removed the ‘shower over bath’ function and created a wet room, which encompasses a lush freestanding bath and a walk-in shower. We had additional space in the laundry which we used to enlarge the powder room and add a vanity, so guests wouldn’t have to run down the hallway to wash their hands.

Overall our clients are over the moon with the final results of their modern bathroom renovation and they now have a private master-suite they can relax in, away from the kids.
