A complete home transformation for a retiree looking for a comfortable space to live in during her later years. The 90’s villa unit located in Altona underwent updates to the laundry, kitchen, bathroom, flooring, windows, heating/cooling, and hot water unit, among other aspects. The original space was dark and grey, with dated colors and a cold feel, featuring mostly carpeted rooms. The client’s vision was to create a lighter, brighter, and warmer home that aligns with modern design trends.

The Laundry: A simple yet stunning design that combines functionality with style, featuring a floating timber shelf for storage and aesthetic appeal. The porcelain stone benchtop with an under-mount sink offers a seamless workspace, while luxury details such as brushed nickel tapware and custom cabinetry add to the elegance. The mushroom-coloured ripple subway tiled splashback adds texture and charm.

The Kitchen: The kitchen is a bespoke space that marries elegance with functionality, featuring ochre and green cabinetry for warmth. The curved island bench with custom porcelain tops serves as a focal point, and black appliances offer a sleek and modern contrast. Mushroom-coloured subway tiles add timeless charm, creating a kitchen that is both stylish and practical.

The Bathroom: The bathroom features a custom-coloured navy blue bathtub and matching over-counter basin, with floor-to-ceiling porcelain earthy wall tiles creating a warm and inviting ambiance. A full-length niche adds functionality and elegance, servicing both the bath and shower. The shower area is semi-enclosed by a custom-made, floor-to-ceiling, frameless glass panel, offering a sense of openness and sophistication. Pale timber cabinetry provides ample storage, and the porcelain vanity top adds a touch of opulence, complemented by brushed nickel tapware.
