The South

A refined ensuite transformation in the heart of Hampton, The South reimagines a relatively new space that lacked both functionality and visual appeal. Completed for a young couple preparing for their next chapter together, this bathroom renovation was designed to deliver both everyday practicality and a sense of elevated luxury.

Despite being only five years old, the original bathroom felt dark, impractical, and devoid of the considered storage required for modern living. The brief was clear—create a warm, contemporary ensuite through thoughtful bathroom design that balances high-end finishes with functionality.

Working within the existing footprint, the layout was retained, allowing the focus to shift toward a complete aesthetic and functional overhaul. A palette of neutral tones was carefully layered to create depth and softness, while natural travertine mosaic feature tiles introduce texture and understated luxury—hallmarks of high-end bathroom renovations in Melbourne homes.

At the centre of the design, a custom-coloured Robert Gordon over-counter basin becomes a striking focal point, adding a sense of individuality and craftsmanship. This is paired with custom-coloured Sussex bronze tapware, bringing warmth and cohesion to the overall scheme while reinforcing the project’s elevated, bespoke feel.

The result is a sophisticated and highly functional ensuite bathroom that feels both timeless and indulgent—an ideal balance of form and function, and a true reflection of considered bathroom design and renovation expertise in Melbourne.
